If you’ve seen a cockroach run for cover when the kitchen light comes on, there are almost always more behind the cabinets. Prodigy Pest Solutions handles every kind of German cockroach job, from a single kitchen to full apartment cleanouts and commercial accounts, and we take care of American cockroaches too.

We’re a family-owned company in Morton, PA. Our team is led by Matt Kelley, an Associate Certified Entomologist (ACE) with 20 years in pest control, and his wife, Sabrina. Our team has about 85 years of combined experience, so the person looking at your roach problem knows exactly what they’re dealing with.

Signs of a Cockroach Problem

  • Roaches scattering when you turn on a light, especially in the kitchen or bathroom
  • Small dark specks, like pepper or coffee grounds, along cabinet edges, hinges and under the sink
  • Shed skins and small brown egg cases tucked into corners and cracks
  • A musty, oily smell in the worst spots
  • Big reddish-brown roaches, often called “water bugs,” coming up from basements, floor drains or pipes

German cockroaches are the small, tan ones with two dark stripes behind the head. They live indoors, close to food, water and warmth, and they multiply fast. American cockroaches are much bigger and usually show up in basements and around drains.

Why Store-Bought Sprays Usually Make It Worse

It’s tempting to grab a can of spray or set off a bug bomb. With German cockroaches, that often backfires. Foggers don’t reach the cracks where roaches actually live, and the spray can push them deeper into the walls, into the next room or into the apartment next door. Spraying over bait can also make roaches avoid it. Meanwhile, the eggs keep hatching.

If you’ve already tried something, that’s fine. Just tell us what it was so we can plan around it.

How Prodigy Treats Cockroaches

Roaches hide in tight spots close to food and water, so that’s where we work. Depending on what we find, treatment includes:

  • Gel baits placed in the cracks and crevices roaches travel through. They eat it and carry it back to where they hide.
  • Insect growth regulators (IGRs), which keep young roaches from growing into breeding adults and break the cycle.
  • Crack-and-crevice treatments in hinges, gaps and voids and behind appliances, instead of spraying open surfaces.
  • Dusts in wall voids, outlets and other hidden spaces where roaches nest.

For American cockroaches, we focus on basements, drains and the places they come in from outside.

We handle homes, rowhomes, apartment cleanouts and multi-unit buildings, plus commercial accounts like restaurants and food facilities. Prodigy is AIB-certified, so we understand what food businesses need for their audits. Learn more about our commercial food safety work.

What to Expect

  1. Text us a photo. Send a picture of the roaches, and where you’re seeing them, to 267-603-1811 for a fast, free quote. You can also call Monday to Friday, 8am to 4pm.
  2. Treatment visit. Your technician confirms which roach you have, finds where they’re hiding and treats those spots.
  3. Follow-up visits. German cockroaches usually take more than one visit, since eggs can hatch after the first treatment. Follow-up visits are included and scheduled automatically until your warranty period ends.
  4. Prevention tips. We’ll point out leaks, gaps and clutter that help roaches hang on.

Before we come, clearing out the cabinets under your sinks makes it easier to reach the spots that matter. Once bait is down, please don’t spray anything over it.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I get a quote for cockroach control?

Text a photo of the roaches and where you’re seeing them to 267-603-1811 for a fast, free quote. You can also call us Monday to Friday, 8am to 4pm.

How can I tell German cockroaches from American cockroaches?

German cockroaches are small and tan, with two dark stripes behind the head, and they live indoors near kitchens and bathrooms. American cockroaches are much larger and reddish-brown, and they usually come from basements, drains and sewers. Not sure which you have? Text us a photo.

Why are German cockroaches so hard to get rid of?

They breed quickly, hide in tiny cracks close to food and water, and move between rooms and apartments through walls and pipes. That’s why we combine gel baits, insect growth regulators, crack-and-crevice treatments and dusts instead of relying on spray.

Do you handle apartment cleanouts and commercial accounts?

Yes. We handle all kinds of German cockroach jobs, including apartment cleanouts, multi-unit buildings, restaurants and food facilities. Prodigy is AIB-certified.

Should I use a bug bomb before you come?

We don’t recommend it. Foggers don’t reach the cracks where roaches live, and they can scatter roaches into new areas. Let us know what you’ve tried so we can plan around it.

Are the "water bugs" in my basement cockroaches?

Usually, yes. Around Philadelphia, “water bug” usually means an American cockroach. They like damp basements, floor drains and sewer lines, and we treat them too.
